3 Watterson, Marse Henry
(1840-1921) Уоттерсон, "Марс" ГенриЖурналист, политический деятель. В 1868-1919 редактор влиятельной газеты "Луисвилл курьер-джорнал" [ Louisville Courier-Journal], один из ее основателей. Во время Гражданской войны [ Civil War] служил в Армии Конфедерации [ Confederate Army], в то же время преклонялся перед А. Линкольном [ Lincoln, Abraham] и выступал за предоставление равных прав неграм. В 1876-77 член Палаты представителей [ House of Representatives]; сыграл важную роль в выдвижении С. Тилдена [ Tilden, Samuel Jones] кандидатом на пост президента. В 1917 получил Пулитцеровскую премию [ Pulitzer Prize] за серию статей, в которых призывал США объявить войну Германии; позднее оставил пост редактора. В 1919 выпустил книгу "Марс Генри.
